(The original text was published on December 7, and was released in the Associated Press by Paul bankero, the champion of magic this year)
(Paul bankero, the rookie of magic, regularly publishes a diary on the Associated Press website this season to record his rookie season in NBA. This is the second autograph he published and the first one after the start of the regular season. In the first 25 games of the bankelo rookie season, Magic achieved a total of 5 wins and 20 losses. The League was at the bottom, and bankelo averaged 21.7 points and 6.8 rebounds)
I have been studying.
In the first few weeks of the rookie season, I felt that I had learned a lot of things, such as things on the court, things off the court, behaviors, what things need to be done, what are my daily work contents and so on…… Then you know what kind of league NBA is. You have to perform very well every night. You have to learn how to win. Winning is not an easy task.
I think I have mastered many of them. As a rookie from Duke University, we are used to winning, and I know exactly what to do to win. It’s just that the situation is different now. I must keep my love for the game, stick to the consistent preparation before the game, and focus on how to help the team win and improve the competitiveness of the team.
Magic has many things I like. The people here are very close. Even if we leave the stadium and the training hall, we will still maintain communication. To be honest, the atmosphere here is very good every day. Unlike some teams, everyone doesn’t talk much. There are all kinds of troubles in the dressing room all day long. Everything we did outside the stadium went well and everyone liked what we were doing. Now we need to figure out how to bring this relationship on the court to the game and help each other win the game. At the same time, we have also solved many problems, such as injuries. We just want to see each other stay healthy before we can try to fight for some results.
Patience is the most important thing. I had never been injured before (bankero missed 7 games because of a sprained ankle). I had a concussion in my sophomore year and had not been to school for two weeks. As for injuries and so on, I have never had one. I never missed any competition during college, and I didn’t miss any competition except concussion in high school. What I have to do is to learn to listen to my body and be patient. My explosive force has not recovered to the state before the injury. I feel that my ankle has recovered almost, but in terms of explosive force and exercise ability, I feel that I can hurry up, which is not normal at present. This is part of my daily recovery training.
I also have many good “Welcome to NBA” moments and bad times. I dunk in my first show, which was very beautiful, but I think there was a dunk more handsome than this in high school. I have never thought about it in my life. I must buckle it up when others try to challenge me. All the dunk against the opponent is that they jump up and want to cover me, even some of my close friends would say that these dunks look crazy.

There are still some moments that make me realize that this is NBA. Like against Durant, he scored 45 points on the opposite side of us and only lost 5 goals. And I got more than 30 points in two games, and then I realized, “I also entered the NBA, and I can do this too.”
Before the start of the rookie season, I must belong to that kind of confident player. I will think about “what must be done this season, we can do this and do that”, and then I will look up and have a record of 5 wins and 20 losses. For me, this is the test of reality for me. I can’t just enter NBA and gain victory and success casually. Everything needs my hard work, maybe it will take several years.
Two weeks a week is definitely impossible. It is not enough for a player to adjust the status. If the team wants some results, it may take one year, two years, or even three years, and it will not reverse overnight. We have the mentality of working hard, the team’s record has been at the bottom of the league, there is no room for decline, how to go up. Start with some small victories, such as taking the next game, playing the ball in half or one game, and then continue to grow in the next step. No accumulation, no even thousands of miles.
The process must be experienced, no matter whether the final result can win or not. I just want to see that we are playing better and better, and I am constantly studying and upholding. No matter what happens, we can’t be discouraged. You must stick to it. You never know what will happen in the future. Let’s walk into the stadium with an upward attitude every day and prepare ourselves to become stronger.
